Narcisos Americanos, 2025

Floor Sculpture: 36” x 30” x 30”
Hanging Sculpture: 12” x 8” x 8”

Exhibited at Durden And Ray (September 20th - October 12th, 2015);

Burlap and assorted fabrics sewn with yarn, stuffed with cotton fiber stuffing, on a wooden armature, concrete and faux moss.

Narcios Americanos explores the tale of the demise of Narcissus within the lens of a Queer, Latine Angeleno that is an allegory of the current state of the world against Fascism. More specifically it is the impact that narcissistic individuals and groups have created and the solution to what must be done to end it. With the figure sinking in a concrete slab that mimics a pond it is looking upward toward a hanging cupid aiming its final arrow to end Narcissus with painful love. Cupid was admired and feared for what the power of love can inflict; Love can feel amazing, but the pain that carries from it whether after the fact or losing it can bring to those affected.

BOOM Collection, 2024 - Present

Various Sizes and Display methods

Fiber fabric, burlap, sewn with yarn and thread, stuffed with cotton nylon stuffing, with various drawing or painting mediums.

From the early 20th Century to now the symbol of the mortar bomb has been present in cartoons, comics and videogame culture, but even before that they were heavily present during the 19th century as the earliest version of hand held, canon repelled weaponry before dynamite. Over time the weapon has become desensitized with exaggerated sizes, colors and motifs on top for cartoon villains and metaphors that are now recognized as a symbol more than what it originated as. The symbol is brought back from America's lexicon of visual language to be set as its original intent to discuss how far has American culture and media desensitized itself from the impact of warfare and our involvement in it before it's too late.

Them (I)

The four faces transition from a face mask to a face “mask” of make up. During the time of COVID 19 I explored more about my genderfluidity that I have supressed for almost a decade and decided to recreate my experiences of that.
